FeelsClub

May 19, 2017

FeelsClub are a Brisbane Electro Dream Pop band, starting out in 2015 and blowing up in the scene super quickly. Since releasing their second and latest single "1x1" in December 2016 they have been playing gigs here there and everywhere, supporting some big time bands like Miami Horror and Dorsal Fins. AEIKNOWU is their latest single and will be released on the 30th of May (keep an eye out for it) it's a single that is a part of their new album 'Never Knows Best' that will be released early August. They are also playing at the Wicking Out Festival in Newcastle this June 2017. Check them out below if you haven't already, also check out the kooky, insider interview and photoshoot I did with them!!

First of all i'm going to start out by asking, who are you guys?                                                                                                                    An 80’s Trash-Pop band from Brisbane who just really like to put on a clean shirt and have a great time for the kids you know? Just give the fans what they want and still leave them wanting more… It’s like taking a handful of your mates valium with a couple of No-Doz because your dealer won't pick up the phone.

Now I have always been curious, where did St Jonnie get his name?                                                                                                             I don’t kiss and tell.  Well that’s a lie. I love to brag.  But its the name and that’s pretty much it. Some Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde type bullshit.

I heard the inspiration to your new single 1x1 came to Jonnie whilst in there shower, can you talk about this a little more?           There isn’t a whole lot more to tell hey.  It came to me in the shower and then I hopped out of the shower walked 3 metres to my computer and wrote the song while the water dried off me.  It’s like life is just not that special sometimes… or all the time depends on how drunk you are.

I had the pleasure of seeing you guys live for the first time at the Empire Hotel a few months ago and the energy was so strong and you all played so passionately, you really are an experience not just a band playing music. What do you feel when you are up there playing your music live to all of these people?                                                                                                                                     Ah I (St. Jonnie) can’t really speak for the others on this but I know I’m often just feeling pretty far away from it all.  If i focus to much on what I’m thinking and feeling at the time I would probably just freak out and fuck up.  So I sorta just ride the vibe of the songs and give my best to the kids who payed their good hard earned cash to come see 45mins of manic depressive 80’s Trash-Pop.

What's the weirdest thing that's happened to you whilst on tour?                                                                                                               We all got along.  Like waaaay too well. Not a single fight and we all made dinner one night which was nice.

What is the best good idea you have ever had?                                                                                                                                             Oh man you know… like continuing to wake up and get out of bed every morning because if i killed myself my cats would probably start eating me before anyone found me and that would just be a waaay too sad of a way to go.

What is the worst good idea you have ever had?                                                                                                                                     Telling myself that I needed to be alone to fix myself. I mean hey so far its got us an album written that we are releasing soon...ish… but after so long of having someone beside me, being alone is just probably not what i needed to make my life more fulfilling… but then again what the fuck do I know hence the album title “Never Knows Best” PLUGPLUGPLUGPLUGPLUG!!

Where do you think FeelsClub will be in 50 years?                                                                                                                                           I will be 75 so I will probably be dead and then I guess its then none of my business what the rest of them are doing because you know… that’s how death works I guess..

Moses Gunn Collective

May 06, 2017

We did a kooky little interview with a lovely five piece band called Moses Gunn Collective, a psychedelic rock band from Brisbane .If you haven't already checked them out, firstly; you're missing out and secondly; do it now with the link below.

Interview Q&A's

What inspired you to start making music? I was always writing stories and making art as a kid, when I got a little older and started playing the guitar I put all my energy into writing music and haven't really stopped. I was lucky to find these lovely people who were also possessed and we all came together. I think everyone in the band is just naturally driven to create and music is how we like to do it.

Where do you get your inspiration from for the the music you make? New bands. Old bands. Breakfast. Our brains. Birds. Weird people. Books. Drugs. Abstinence. Holidays. The natural world. Dancing. Good dreams. Spooky dreams. Nice sheets. Everything I suppose.

What was the first gig you ever played? Our first real run of shows were around five years ago at The Troubadour (now Black Bear Lodge) in the valley, Brisbane. One of the owners at the time, Jamie Trevaskis, was really good to us and encouraged us to keep making music. Thanks Jamie xx

What do you see yourselves doing with your music in the future? We'd just like to keep making weird albums and travelling around playing shows. Seeing some more of the world would be real nice.

What has been your favourite show played so far? Awwwe sheeit I dunno! The crowd at Jungle Love is pretty hard to top - there's just something in the water out there.

Are there any particular musicians or bands that you get inspiration from? Our faves are pretty diverse and it changes so much but here's a few:

  • Lee Hazlewood & Nancy Sinatra
  • Connan Mockasin
  • Mazzy Star
  • Nicholas Jaar
  • Kendrick Lamar Oh shit I made a rhyme!

What was the last good idea you had? To take a bath.

What is your usual form of procrastination? Sniffing around the garden.

Where do you go or what do you do when you need inspiration? The garden, or just outside somewhere pleasant.

What is your favourite single that you've released so far? Hmmm I think New Romantic Novocaine is probs my personal fave.
